    One thing to keep in mind. That is if someone is not being hurtful to others or themselves, than it is best not to rat them out.

    You did the right thing alerting mom. What ever problems that may be, smoking is not a good thing, not attractive and not healthy! Sometime, doing the right thing hurts but we just have to take solace in knowing its correct.

    Don't tell next time. It would be much more satisfying for you for her to get caught by the cops or something and get into real trouble. And you can always call in an anonymous tip to the cops if she is going to be at a party or something where illegal stuff is going on. Or get into her stuff and leave some "evidence" somewhere it can easily be found or somewhere it looks like she could have just dropped it.
