I had a dream that my girlfriend was drowning and when i got to her she was already dead what does it mean?

I was there to pull her out the tub afterwards. The wierd part is I was there before her parents to pull her out and hold her in my arms. Why was I in her house? And how is it I was there before her parents?

I would say you sense she is going through some profound change that you don't understand. Normal rules (presence of family) don't apply. There's lots of drowning imagery in literature that evokes states of mind like this, the end of Eliot's "Prufrock", the "full fathoms five ny father lies" passage in Tempest. I know it's upsetting. Maybe you can get her to talk.
