Resolved Question

I had a spinal tap on Mon. Awoke with headache on Thurs. Why'd it onset 72 hrs later, and not the next day?

I still have the headache today, Sat. The doc on call said if I still have it Mon morning, they'll do a blood patch.

Drink some coffee, avoid Aspirin and Motrin - Use Acetaminophen or whatever your Md gave you. Good Luck.

Yeah sounds like post-lumbar puncture headache and thats not good, could be losing fluid..You need to get that checked...Most of the time they fix on there own,but one lasting over 24 hours may need treatment...Get checked and good luck...

This happened to a freind of mine its cause by a small hole that has been left in the spine and is leaking spinal fluid. It can heal itslef in a couple of days if not they do a blood patch, seal it with blood. My freind had this for 5 days and is fine now

Drink lots of water......Lay flat on your back.....and if it does not go away.....See the Dr....

Sounds like you might have a slow leak

I had a spinal tap last year and mine did the same thing. I had that headache for about 5 days. It's because there is a bubble pressing on a nerve. No worry. Drink ALOT of fluid and it will work miracles because the water in your spine needs to be replenished. I would not recommend a blood patch in your spine though because there could be a chance for infection. Stick with fluid and you should be fine.
