Just new to this Your are the first one I am answering to.
When my nephews were small I got a white drawing piece of cardbroard you can pick up atb wal-mart I think they are 36x36 I made a city road with parking to drive on with their match cars and I made one for a farm Did this for my son too. It was more fun making roads and places Drawing them and playing cars with them was a lot of fun plus you can teach them things what this sign means and open up new Ideals to draw and and just get to let them talk about everything We play what if a person pulls up in and car what do you say are do and revise rolls And as they got older they remembered and now in their 30s still have that city and farm road cardbroad at their grandmoms house.

9 year olds are less easily bored than 18 year olds. just maintain a good variety of things and it will be fine
Keep looking for new twists on existing activities - like always walk adifferent path.
On thing not mentioned as well is playing borad games - old fashioned yes but they still are good for promoting social interaction.
And maybe there are some other guys around who would like to participate as well; the more the merrier as they used to say.
