I have a friend who calls me to tell me she is coming over my house, but never shows up. why does she do that?
also she never answers the phone either. yet i see her posting things on fb. i had unfriended her on fb once after being fed up with this thing she does. she hits me up with a pity story that she has alot on her mind with her three daughters and husband being in jail. i understand why she is bitter but that has nothing to do with her calling me to tell me that she is coming over, not showing up, clicking the ignore button when i call her to see what's taking her so long, and never even giving me an explenation as to why she never showed. i just don't get why she does this, any ideas?

It sounds as if you are the back-up plan or the negotiating chip in her game of manipulating someone.

She probably wants to see you, but does have a lot on her mind. She knows that you care, and wants that nurturing, but that also makes her feel guilty for not being able to just handle things on her own. I think it is a personality quirk, and maybe just accept her the way she is, and don't try to personalize it. She probably does the same thing to all who care.

Because she probably depends too much on her GPS. Who knows, she may be sitting of a railroad track right now.

Because you haven't severed ties with her in an abusive rant in front of other people she's trying to game.
