I have a question about age of consent.

I like this person who is 18. He's graduating from high school this year. I am 15. He's my sisters boyfriends bestfriend, thats how I met him. He's smart, not pushy, sweet, layed back, "chill." We have tons in common. We are both calm people, we try not to worry about pointless things. We both have a joy for 90s music. I have never met someone who loves The Black Crowes as much as me. I am pretty mature for my age. I do decent in school, dont get in much trouble, stay away from drugs. Some say it is legal to date him with parents consent, some say we can date but we can not just sleep together. Some say I have to be 16.. Im confused. I found some information on the 'Romeo and Juliet' law. Can someone be an assistance to help explain that law further?
Thanks.
P.S I live in GA
Also I DONT PLAN ON SLEEPING WITH HIM.

You can not as a minor consent to any kind of anything. Minors do not have the legal authority to consent to anything.

I know you don't like to hear that, but it's because of your ease and willingness to be attracted to something that seems wonder, but may have intent that is not in your best interest. Basically, if you were to have a relationship with this 18 yo and some objects, and he either takes you from your home (you can do so willingly and it's still an issue) or if you were to have intimate relations with him, he is violating on the first point a man act with is literally kidnapping, or in the second case, statutory rape.

On on a point more to your liking, what possible interest would an 18 yo boy have with a 15 year old girl, do you share the same values, likes, interests. I think not. I think the reason he is interested in you is because 15 yo girls get emotionally connect to older boys who seem to have everything, when in actually the only thing they have is an interest in getting into your panties. Believe me, no matter how laid back he is, unless he shares my lifestyle and hasn't come out to you yet.. he's just waiting to come onto you in the biblical fashion.

When Shakespeare brought Romeo and Juliet to life, he was intentional in choosing two young characters as his protagonists. Then as now, two teens having consensual sex is understandable. But an adult molesting a child is reprehensible.
The difference between the two situations would seem obvious. But in many states in the U.S., legally speaking, there’s little distinction between Romeo and Juliet's mutual decision and the abusive actions of a child molester. An older teen who has sex with his younger girlfriend can be arrested, prosecuted, and jailed for the act. Even worse, he may carry the stigma of being labeled a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The problem typically arises when the male is 18 or 19, the female is between 14 and 16, and the parent of the younger teen presses charges. (Even Romeo would be labeled a sex offender today, as he was believed to be 16 and Juliet 13 when their relationship began.)

hough the age of consent (i.e. the age at which an individual can legally agree to have sex) varies from state to state – and often splits along gender lines – it is definitive in one aspect: it refers to sexual acts between heterosexuals. In over half the states in the U.S., sex between homosexuals is either not addressed by existing laws or is considered a crime.

Recent changes in the laws governing consensual sex between minors or an adult 18 years of age and a minor 14-16 years of age have acknowledged that this intimacy is not the same as molestation. The new laws, named “Romeo and Juliet laws” after Shakespeare’s tragic teenage lovers, attempt to correct overly harsh penalties and prison terms meted out over the years. In 2007, these laws went into effect in Connecticut, Florida, Indiana and Texas.

In Florida, a 28-year-old man who’d been placed on the state’s sex offender registry was able to remove his name after passage of Florida’s Romeo and Juliet law in July 2007. At age 17, Anthony Croce began having sex with his 15-year-old girlfriend; when he turned 18, the girl’s disapproving mother pressed charges and Croce plead no contest. He was then legally compelled to register as a sex offender.

Florida’s new law still regards underage sex as a crime, but a judge may now determine whether to strike the sex offender designation from those previously convicted. Cases that may lead to an overturned designation would involve a victim who is age 14-17 and has agreed to consensual sex; the offender would have to be no more than 4 years older than the victim and have no other sex crimes on his record.

One well-publicized case demonstrating the need for Romeo and Juliet legislation is that of Genarlow Wilson, a 17-year-old who was imprisoned for having consensual oral sex with a 15-year-old female. An athlete and honor student, Wilson was videotaped at a New Year’s Eve celebration engaging in oral sex and was sentenced to ten years for aggravated child molestation. After serving jail time from 2003-2007, the Georgia Supreme Court

ruled that Wilson should be released; and this decision was followed by a change in state law that reduced consensual sex between teenagers to a misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of one year.

I understand that he would have to be 5 years older than you
for it to be considered illegal ..But if your parents or even one
parent agrees to it than you should be okay but really you two
got to be at least 4 years younger or 4 years older for it to
be considered perfectly legal..Now if you were 15 and he was
20 that would be very much illegal..Even if he was 19 it would
still be considered legal..I know a girl was 16 in Pa and her
mom gave parental rights to this 39 year old guy...He signed a
a paper the 39 year old guy did and married the girl and yes
it was legal cause she was 16 the real age of consent for
females in the state of Pa ..Unfortantley for her the guy turned
    out to be a d'ck

You gave us very clear details but I think that it varies from state to state here in NYC the age is 17 I would guess that you'd need parental consent before engaging in a relationship. If you are comfortable talking to your mother or father go ahead and ask them. Also talk to the young fellow. He has a say in this too.

    Good luck!

If you are virgin, you actually have to be 18 in some states, 16 in others. Why are you rushing it. You can sleep with people for the next 60 years, do you really think a couple of years is going to change your life? If it's real, he will wait.
