I have always been told that when you die you go to a better a better place. So why should I stay in this 1?

Because if the atheists are right, there's nowhere for you to go. And if the Catholics are right, you'll go to Hell.

are you sure you would make it to that better place?
The point is that you shouldnt risk ending up some place else, you know?

I'm not sure why you asked this question, but it's a pretty good one. So good, i figure you've been thinking about it for a while. I dont think there can be a promise for anything better anywhere & I personally do not have faith in anything but I do believe that everything could get a whole lot worse if you turn the wrong way. Life isnt something to risk even when it sucks. It makes no sense...

When you die your body gets ripped up for the autopsy, you get your fluids drained out, then you get sewn up and people will come and gawk at your deformed body, then you're put into the ground where your flesh will rot and your bones will sit. Stay in this world to avoid THAT happening as long as you possibly can!!

Because, by your logic, you're only mortal once. Yes, this life is hard, but there's nothing more rewarding than living it to the fullest. "A better place?" Well, we don't really know if that's true, do we? What if you get there and it's not what you expected? What if you leave this world only to find that there really is no afterlife?

You make the best of what you have now so that when it's over, you're happy with what you experienced. If there's nothing left after you're done here, well, then at least you can say you didn't waste the little time you were given.

the only people who could tell you where you're actually heading, are dead people. because they are the only ones who know the ins and outs of the other side.
call life a challenge. See it though.. do good things for others, and good things will come to you.

i'll tell you why..because all those people that have said that...dont know the reality of death. Death is final you get one chance to live why would you want to finish it. Dont believe the hype there are no guarantees of a afterlife...so enjoy the life you have.

I think it's the same as when you get drunk.

If you get drunk when you were feeling depressed, that feeling will follow you no matter how much you drink.

If you get drunk with friends, pleasant moods can follow.

What if you killed yourself when you were depressed & could never escape from that? There would be no more life to make new experiences. The last thing you would remember is that intense depression & it would never leave you.

Well that's my biggest fear about that. That & knowing I made everyone who ever cared about me as unhappy as I was at the time, by doing something so selfish.

Depression is not forever. It would be crazy to take such a permanent action to solve a temporary problem. I can say this because I am coming out from my own hell, of depression. It is slowly going away now!

you were created by God. if you were to take your life, it's against God's will and man its time to toughen up here on earth!

I solemly believe there is life after death and i'm not really religious. But because my grandmother has visited me there must be somethin.

Learning from life experences is what living is all about. Even if they are bad experiences there is still something you are meant to learn from them, some wisdom you should take away with you when it is over. Life is given to you as a gift, and to give that gift up is a slap in the face to whatever God, Goddess, Higher Power, etc that you believe in. The reason you are alive now it that you are meant to be breathing at this moment, however youre life could end at anytime. What a wonderful question!! My answer would be that MAYBE everybody is lying about that "better place" stuff. I mean how does anyone really KNOW??? And part two of my answer is: Let's make THIS PLACE the kind of place we all SAY the OTHER place is!!

To make responsible and worthy preparation for it.
Here is better than the womb of the mother, but the kid has to spend nine months there.
In the womb, preparation is mandatory, the kid has no free will, hence no responsibilty. If he had free will, he might be heavily responsible for committing suicide!
Here, preparation is optional, the human being has free will, so he must learn to know who he is and where is his responsibility.
