I have every symptom known for hypo except weight gain... anyone else not have that symptom?

I have Congenital Hypothyroidism. I was actually born without a Thyroid gland. However, I have never had problems with my weight. From time to time, when my medication wasn't right, I have had the symptoms of dry skin, tiredness, and mild depression. You can be hypothyroid without having every single symptom.

Hypo runs in my family. All the women on my Mother's side develop it sometime after their mid twneties. One of my little brothers just found out he has it too. I have always struggled with my weight but other women in my family have not had the weight gain with it. Doctors are iffy as they really do not know everything. My cousin was miserable with all the other symptoms including depression but no doctors were willing to put her on thyroid meds. She finally found one and she is on Thyroxine now...she is MUCH better. She even lost some of the ten punds she's been griping about for years..just came off after a few months. She's got no side affects or anything negative at all. Find a doctor that will confirm you have it and is willing to give you meds even though you don't have the weight gain. You'll feel better!

My husband has hypothyroidism, and he doesn't have the weight gain, either.....
