I have stole from my family and then lied to them and I ahve been seeing a therapist I don't know why I lie?

Does it have anything to do with drug use? My husband and I just went throught this, he was using and the addiction was so bad he would steal from me and lie straight to my face.

Honestly, nobody could pinpoint an exact reason for why you lie because our minds are very complicated places. You lie for the same reason someone steals, or the same reason we talk behind each others' backs. We are all messed up. None of us are perfect, and we won't ever be. We will always do things that we wish we didn't. Unpopular or not, God created us and gave us free will, therefore we think our way is best most of the time. Don't beat yourself up about it. Admit your wrongs, ask God to help you and teach you how to not make the same mistakes, and move forward. Don't be a prisoner in your own mind because of guilt.

People lie to get out of trouble. If you have stolen more than once, and done it a lot, maybe you need help with that. I have met a few Kleptomaniacs who were quite avid liars, and they weren't afraid to tell people what they were like.

I will take it that you have only stolen once. To do with the lying, how about daring yourself not to, and making it a goal, it will save a lot in therapy fees.

lying is a way of getting out of trouble and its also a way of getting attention so maybe you lied cause you didnt want to get caught and maybe you just wanted attention
