Because the rich ARE rich precisely because they exploit those who lack the capital to be able to exploit anyone else. Think about it: If someone is a business owner with a workshop with twenty workers that business owner is getting wealthy because his workers are getting squeezed out of most of the value of their labor in order for the business owner to be able to pay his overhead costs and turn a profit. If some virus that affected only the non-wealthy suddenly killed off all his workers as well as killing off all the OTHER potential wage slaves he could hire to replace them there is no way that business owner could do the work of twenty wage slaves himself. His business would fold faster than Superman doing laundry.
