I just let my kids outside the front to play with neighbours kids....

It's the first time they have played on their own, they are 5 and 6 is that too young? I feel very nervous but they really wanted to go... It's a 100 yards away and no busy roads?

Is This A Good Question? (4)

Are you keeping an eye on them as we 'speak'?

It just depends on where you live, doesn't it? When mine was 4 I let him walk to grandma's house alone, about 200 yds maybe, but she'd call as soon as he got there. I believe in kids being independent, so I've always given him more freedom than I'm necessarily comfortable with, in order to increase his independence.

Have somebody keep an eye on them anyway until they come back in. They know about "the puppy ploy," and know about the secret code words when they are suppose to follow somone you sent to take them to a safe place?

There may be times when you want someone you trust and they don't know to take possession of them. Set up the code words today! The secret code words (which you and the kids know) are a sure fire way to keep them safe. Their first words to a stranger' questions should be, "What's the code words?"

If they were going to somenes house I always watched them until they got there. That young they stayed in the backyard if we were not able to watch them, but our street was really busy.

it's not very busy, the houses are mostly off road, we live just off a cul de sac.

Still, at that age.......being told about stranger danger means nothing if someone swoops them up. At those ages a grown up should be present, period. Watching out the window isn't enough.

I do keep going out as well and there is an older girl with them too. I'm sure it's fine.
