He is in a heated and filtered 5 gallon tank tank now and looks really healthy but has this little patch of fungus on his fin. Will it go away now that he is in a clean environment?

you can get antibio for fish just drop it in the water

Best Answer

Probably not. The environment is just as healthy for the fungus as it is for the fish.

Best Answer

But I would think his immune function will improve so the fungus can no longer survive.

That sounds like what's called "Ick."<br />

...That wiki has treatment methods.

Best Answer

It is not ich. It is one small white patch of fungus on his dorsal. Actually, since bringing him home, it has halved in size.

Best Answer

In my experience they tend to die from that unless you get treatment.

Best Answer

I am now treating him with an antifungul medication.

Best Answer

That's good, and thanks for the best answer.

Best Answer

He needs treatment.

Best Answer

I'd say no...get a treatment....

Best Answer

Maybe, but I would ask around for some kind of drops or something to help get rid of it.

Best Answer

Not an expert on fish but I would say no. They sell fungal treatment in pet shops.
