mate, for a 16-17 year old..any money is good money. i started working at 12 i was paying board at 15 i even pay towards food costs / power / internet.

should be happy you have a chance to make money and spend it on what you like. how many of your friends have jobs? not many.

tell her you need experience in your field....and working with her doesn't give you that experience....so it would be nice if you can leave her for a year or two until you can get that necessary experience then you can return to her. For example if you are a programmer...and you're helping your mom with paper work....tell her you're programming skills will rust and you need experience with latest programming languages and tools...and so you must work for some programming company....not doing clerical desk job.
