God taught the Jews that some things they consumed formed a part of them and ultimately made them like that. Unclean foods made them unclean. The lesson was that if you consume evil things, you become like that. We all know that from experience - you partake in violence, you're more prone to violence. Jesus was basically saying that if you lap up the things of the world, you will become like the world.

jews have certain foods they can and can not eat. I am supposing it is probably something about this issue.
