First, just because you reach out does not mean she will not hurt herself again. But for her to know that everyone knows what she did will make her retreat farther... In my opinion. <br />

You can be nice to her without divulging that you know she has issues. If you share issues with her, or you have been where she is now... then you can relate your personal experiences without requiring her to share hers. Attempted suicide and self harming are personal issues...things she might not be comfortable sharing with an acquaintance. If you want to be close to her, then get close to her on other merits.

If you say something, you'll hurt the relationship between her and her sister in law. Just be nice, if someone is thinking of suicide and wants help, they'll ask. Sometimes people can't be saved, if they wish to die.
