I'm very sorry for your loss... by loss I am going with the assumption that she is now deceased, and not just missing. And by something to put in the newspaper back home you mean a memorial of some sort. "You never truly lose a person or a place that you have loved. When someone you love dies, they take a part of you with them... and leave a piece of themselves behind. Its what keeps us whole. " In loving memory of _____________, gone from this earth, but always in my heart."

A different idea would be to create a power point presentation or you tube video of some of your daughters favorite things, what she believed in, what she loved, as a tribute to her. You could also create a facebook page honoring her and let her friends and family come and post their memories of her so you can relieve them and not feel like no one remembers, but be warmed by the many lives she touched.

Best to have a press release made up and then phone the editor back home - the phone calls will help to insure the you till get as much as possible in the paper there. And yes, sometimes they will brush you off or put you to someone who does not seem to care, but that is rare these days of dwindling paper sales.

You could just say how much she is still loved and missed and include the relevant dates. I am sorry for your loss.

Have people write memories about her and edit it down into a story.
