God the Son prayed to God the Father in the Garden of Gethsemane, where he took upon himself the sins and pains of the world. It was to be an excruciating painful act of love for all of us. Even Jesus Christ, who was half God, a man that had the power and the keys of the Resurrection, who could control when his spirit left his body, was in such pain that he required the help of an angel. He knew it was going to be painful, so he said, "Father, if it be possible, don't make me go through this. Nevertheless, I will do what you, Father, want me to do, because your will is more important than mine, and with this atonement I will be able to extend mercy to all men, and forgive their sins, if they would but believe on me."
