I never thought excuses is a way of getting rid of someone. Why can't men be honest with how they feel and assert ?

A majority of men, including myself, have a natural sense of pride. Personally I just don't like sharing my feelings or emotions with just anyone. Furthermore, if a guy has shared his emotions with someone before (especially a girl) and was hurt, this would make a guy not want to share his feelings even more. Takes trust. He may not trust you enough or may just be scared of getting hurt. Guys can be sensitive. This is usually stereotypically thought of as a sign of weakness when a guy is sensitive or emotional. Sometimes it is just difficult.

If he's making an excuse, he's trying to let you down gently. Take the hint. He's trying, in a weird way, to be polite by not hurting your feelings. But if you MAKE him be rude, he will and he'll be very assertive about it and you'll resent that too.

you can let down someone gently by being upfront. Communicate in ways.... which is polite and civil. It will hurt but it will be fine. But keeping your hopes up and simply stating. This is for your own good. I always tell you im busy with work and etc etc. so it's easy to move on!!!! wtf :C

True. I believe in being honest and tactful but I still think that some people make up excuses because they really don't want to tell you that the wart on your nose is a major turn off so they make something up.
