Probably. I smashed my thumb two months ago and the nail is still black, although its growing up a bit. Ouch- I sympathize.

Is the entire nail discolored? Or just a part of it?, I agree with putting ice on it, elevating it helps the pain. Depending on the amount of nail injured, you very likely could loose the nail. Lol...
