Creation only works both ways. Creation creates the creator and the creature at once. Both must be true.

Ooh now that's a good one. Careful though you might just blow some of the simpler minds on here.

God created Man in his Image as its said.
But men also created God in his image by twisting it, drawing him etc... I believe their is a God, there has been Gods in every culture in Mankind for thousands of years, not just a Christian,Jewish or Islamic God, as i think most people seem to think of..

I believe in God as an infinite, eternal, shall we say, lifeforce. We are not, physically,in his image,as our physical bodies are adapted for living on this world, but rather spiritually,as God is that spark that animates us.

I ponder similar lines of thought. Image is taken too literally I think. Just like most things in the bible.

A lot of it is in the interpretation.Man thinks in the physical realm, but God is in the spiritual.

I pondered this very point many years ago and came to this conclusion:
IT WAS A SYMBIOTIC PROCESS OF MUTUAL CREATION.

I wonder if God is an avatar, a morphological creation or something. I believe Pratchett is hinting at more than he lets on with his creation of Death. Small Gods is in some ways a thought provoking novel. Collective conscious will create a god.

The nearest analogy in real life is- well- loads of things- but the steamboat or light bulb. All appeared independently approx the same time due to collective conscious thinking. There were outside mavericks. Hero with his steam not-quite-turbine in something bc and some Scottish Quaker dude with a lightbulb ( vacuum? ) in Dundee about 1839.

You're starting a religious fire. But I will add my part of wood and gasoline.

I personally feel that man created God, or gods and goddesses, in their image in a way. They added characteristics that they felt would be higher and holier than human beings. It was a way to have answers to the great questions of life. When in doubt ask God and use one of his scriptures or proverbs to explain in a faintly confusing way. It's a scape got to human kind who needs something to make them feel better. God is their safety blanket and we made him from scratch and built him up over the years with each era in time. We have added things and taken them away. We have chosen what's right an wrong, real and unreal, and everything in between. We needed something over the beginning fundamental decades and even centuries to answer things that we didn't know how else to explain until science and medicine came along. Just as psychiatry and modern medicine came along and disproved demonic possession as mental illness and technology has been discovered and advanced our species, science has answered all of those questions and is still trying to answer them and prove them to be true or false. We. Is have a way to prove how we got here and where we are going. Instead of asking and praying to know science and humans are searching, researching, testing and proving that the answer is true before answering us. Humans made God but now God controls humans into not believing the truth.

I'm not being mean. But people will be. Both sides have their extremists and people get cruel when you threaten their beliefs. Just warning you dear. Some people can't just have a healthy debate. I like to hear all sides of a story not just my own.

Actually, when I think about it, not all faiths believe that God looks like a man. Probably some Eastern religions do not believe this. However, Christians on the whole believe God created us in His image. Atheists believe there is no God, and therefore God is a fictionous creation made by the imaginings of men; therefore, God was created in the image of man.

God stands for our source, and we came from that source, in the image of that source. But upon that source as conscious beings we create a self-image, and then we distort the image of the source to be like us. A person, judges alot, hates certain people, wrathful, gives when feels like it or feels that you deserve it. As a child we didn't create these things, it wasn't until as adults we decided we are adults not children of the source

Man created God as a way of explaining what was at the time unexplainable. What amazes me is now that we have the answers humans still cling to the stone-age beliefs.

the creator, and god are two vastly different things. there's the one that created all that is and ever will be, and those that evolved first must have named themselves god, for what pure and perfect being, would give creation to such an imperfect and disgusting creature like humanity? the energy that flows every is the true "god", the creator, while anything that is in physical manifestation can only be ones who use his power, but not those who are in control of it.

That depends on how you define "GOD".

If you define it like the xtians/muslims do, then that god is created in man's image. As God has never appeared to us to prove his existence, there is no working model other than the one that men invent.

If you define god like physicists do (and the xtian theologian Paul Tillich), then god is an energy field. It is "being", it is not "a" being. Because of the great power that we have as beings, we are gods, self-created in the image of gods.

God created man in his image i would say. God is just a description of what early man could not understand which was actually a technologicaly advanced race capable of such awsome feets that early man could only describe as miracles. This goes not only for christian/jewish/islamic god, but for any culture's gods. Zeus and all the other roman/greek stories about their gods with wepons, that if u take a step back, sound like high tech things we are only just redisovering now. And definatly the great hindu epics with their vimanas or flying cities or i'd say space ships with the power to scortch the earth. Id say we were probably genticaly cross bread slaves to do their bidding, so yes god created man in his image!

When it comes to man there is no question that god was involved in the creation, but the question remains " who created who", If you think about it the answer becomes clear , men created god.

Given how violent, vengeful, homicidal, genocidal, petty, and parochial god is. Man made god in his image but at his worst not best moments.

“Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel.” (1 Peter 2:18) And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.(2 Kings Chapter 2 verses 24) Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the slave girl, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well.(Exodus 11:5) God drowns everyone on earth (except Noah and his family)(Genesis 7:23) And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people. (Numbers 31) These are the evil acts of a homicidal murder. Your God is a mad man. He commits genocide and you apologize for him. Shame on you.

Moses wrote the original text of Genesis over 3,000 yrs ago it no longer exists as far as we know, but we have over 500 copies written by various scribes and there is minimal variation in them. We do have God's words on my opinion and in the opinions of Bible authorities. You can get a copy at the book store.
