All the best restaurants are in the French Quarter. For a casual lunch, be sure to try a muffaletta sandwich (from Napoleon House) before you leave! And drink a "Hurricane".
Go to Bourbon Street for the music. Look for a band called "Dwayne Dopsie and the Zydeco Hellraisers" They're incredible!Like (2)

Beignets at Café Du Monde are a must along with the Chickery Coffee....then just about any restaurant in the french quarter, One of the things I did while there was take a short day trip to the gulf beaches, just east on the Mississippi side of the border.
Then the delis were good...order a Po-boy its a type of sandwich...then there are lots of little shops along that area of the river in the french quarter.
I highly recommend blackened catfish and fried alligator (tasted like fried chicken sort of)Like (1)

Its been a long time for me since I've been there. Try to find a converted plantation. the grounds tend to be exquisite! The food is usually great too.
If you're the spicy food type, try some blackened red fish (though It will probably be pricey!) and don't miss out on the bread pudding with whiskey sauce!
