I was depressed, to enjoy life again do I do things I used to enjoy, and I'll like it again or will it take longer?

What I used to enjoy I have no motivation to do anymore, but if I just do it anyways will I be able to enjoy it again? Through continuing to do it will I start getting my motivation back, and excitment, or will it always being me forcing myself to do the action, and just going through the motions.

Is This A Good Question? (2)

i think (and im no expert on depresion) that......over thinking anything is the cause of alot of depression. i say do as you please,or what pleases you. Mix it up,try old and new, spend time with the familiar and the unfamiliar. there is so much that we leave undiscoved. we dont ask....we dont find...we dont try.....we dont know. fill your life to the brim!!! the cream floats to the top!

find out what you do enjoy and start there. keep it simple. you dont need to start joining clubs and groups, you just need to find your passion. life is difficult for us all for different reasons and god knows we dont make it easy on ourselves. take a deep breathe. it is going to get better. im living proof of that.

Everyone deals with depression differently.....but sounds like you want to start enjoying the things you found pleasure in, so that's a start..:) If you haven't seen your physician....then I suggest that would be your first step in recovery....talk to him or her, let them know how you've been feeling, then the 2 of you can figure out what method of treatment will be best for you...

You can beat depression, don't let it rob you of the best years of your life....!
    Good luck to you....:)

Sounds like you're still very depressed and not sure if those antidepressants help you much with that. Are you in therapy? Do you know what was the trigger?
The fact you realize its not normal and want to get out of this situation. Try to stay busy. And figure out what triggered it in the first place.

Well, if you were suicidal and antidepressants helped you with that, then they are working. As for therapy, even if you don't like it, do it. It will help you get out of the state you're in. Feeling nothing when doing activites you used to like can mean two things - you outgrew them or you're seriously depressed. I think your situation is the latter. Go to therapy, find a doc you like and trust and do it. Don't let it suck you back in again. You are stronger than you think, but even the strongest people sometimes need a helping hand. There is nothing wrong with that. Good luck.
