I agree with puzzles it is annoying of you. There are people on here from other countries who's english is not their first language. There are also mentally handicapped people who maybe don't spell as good as some.

Love it!! I AM a teacher and it drives me NUTS to see the wrong spelling!! I know this is MY hang up - but honestly, sometimes you cannot even decipher what the person is trying to say!! And don't get me started on punctuation - especially the use of the ' in plural words!!!!!!!

I think it's great Divine! A spelling bee maybe? The EP staff would have a word of the day, TYPED OUT as you would pronounce it or hear it/say it, but we would have to spell/type it out correctly.
Yes, a spelling class would be good; i am not immune to spelling mistakes myself. :P

(I guess some people are just not good spellers, I've heard)

Why not just extend the spell checker to all the places not currently covered - like these comments. Then, incorrect spelling would be a sign of laziness - pure and simple.
