That's weird. I thought I was as socially liberal as they come, but this question makes me wonder if I'm all that socially liberal after all. I believe in civil unions having the same legal parameters as marriage, and I'm for gays in the military, they've always been there anyway! This issue however has me at odds with myself.

This issue challenges a lot of people for sure. But, being gay is not a disease that rubs off on people. My daughter spent weeks at a time while growing up with a lesbian aunt and her partner. She's 19 now and quite straight. Nevertheless, the idea of gay scouts or gay scout leaders challenges many people.

If the gay boys and men are allowed to join, you have to get rid of the "morally straight" words from the oath. There's no two ways about it. I had a mom who was a den mother, father who was a scoutmaster, and two brothers who were cub scouts and Boy Scouts. They took that oath dozens of times and I could receite it in my sleep, I heard it so often.

So you think being gay is immoral then? Why?

As long as he's not a leader, I don't see an issue with it.

Marines are under the U.S. government...Scouts are not. Huge difference. Leave the Scouts alone, for God & Country!
