Resolved Question

If a person is crazy do they know it?

If a person knows that they are crazy, are they really?It takes a sane person to pronounce a person as crazy, so how can they know that they are crazy?

This was the plot of Catch 22.

Catch 22 was a satire on politics, bureaucracies, the state and military industrial complex.

The point key point about craziness and war is that only the crazy people go willingly. The state has to compell everyone else.

The author is echoing General Butler's dictum that while we should fight to protect our homes and the bill of rights, war for any other reason is a racket.

The best part of Catch 22 is when Milo Minderbender bombs his own side on a contract with the enemy. His justification is that everyone on the base is a shareholder so no-one can possibly lose.

Sound familiar?

Lucyintheskywithd iamonds	Posted Nov 7th, 2009 at 5:45PM Most people do not think they suffer from a major mental illness until they are diagnosed, often after a situation that lands the person in a mental hospital. Once you've been to a mental hospital, you learn you were insane, and you are and always will be mentally ill, and you come to accept it. As long as you stay on your medications once you are out of the mental hospital, you remain aware that you are mentally ill. Once you stop taking your medicines, you stop thinking you are mentally ill until you wind up back in the mental hospital. Rated: +3Vote for this!
ZombieKitty	Posted Nov 7th, 2009 at 4:40PM In Psych class, they told us that people who "say" they are crazy aren't, they are just aware they have some issues, whereas the truly crazy people usually think they are pretty normal. I don't know, that's just what we were taught. Rated: +2Vote for this!

kittycat101303	Posted Nov 7th, 2009 at 5:21PM an crazy person doesnt realize their crazy. they think the pink bunnies that keep eating their food, even though their food is still there. are real. if you think you're crazy you arent. if you think you're normal without a doubt everything you're seeing is real and everyone else is insane, youre actually insane :) Rated: +2Vote for this!

edgargeorge	Posted Nov 7th, 2009 at 4:39PM Define crazy. Some disorders are easier than others to recognize in yourself. Depression is one that comes to mind -- a depressed person often notices a lack of interest in activities that were once enjoyable, for example. But in terms of the paranoid schizophrenic, well, self reflection is much harder, I would think. Rated: +1Vote for this!
