And if Cenderella is the love of the prince's life, then why must he search the whole country, presenting the shoe to each woman to see if it fits? You would expect him to at least remember how she looked like XD

Good question...never thought about it before...

This made me laugh.. However to attempt to answer. In some versions there was not just one ball but three and on the third night the prince spread pitch on the stairs to keep her from running off. The shoe stuck in the pitch. Then the prince dealing with other princely duties sent out his(excuse the pun) foot men to search for his lost love. They did not know what she looked like so they had to use the slipper to find her. What I don't get is how come no one else in the entire kingdom shared her foot size.

Best Answer

Imagine what her feet must look like then XD

Best Answer

She lost it running downstairs. She was wearing a glass slipper, they are not flexible, so when her foot flexed the shoe didn't and it fell off when she bent her foot. As for the prince, he sent out his people to try the shoe on the women in the kingdom. He didn't do it himself. That would have been too easy, and the story would have been too short.

Best Answer

True, but he could have at least said she didn't have black hair or something =p that must have sorted out some people XD

Best Answer

Charles Perrault wrote the story back in 1697. Perhaps it wasn't politically correct to mention a lady's hair colour.

Best Answer

Wow I didn't know the story was that old ^^
You might be right =D

I'm sure it has gained and lost a lot over the years and with the translations and when Disney got a hold of it.

well she lost it because the heel got stuck in the carpet as she was fleeing down the staircase on her way back to the pumpkin...er chariot. As for the prince, wasn't she wearing a masque for the ball so no one would recognize her?

Best Answer

Nope sorry, no mask. You would expect him to no present the shoe with for example someone with black hair right? ;-)

In the Brother's Grim version, There was actually 3 different gowns and 3 different pairs of slippers... each one unique. Three times the prince got aquainted with her and three times she got away. The third time , however, the prince had the entire stairway smeared with pitch and was not going to let her get away. The third pair were spun gold { the other two were - silk, and spun silver }

While Cinderella in her golden gown lost track of time dancing with the prince she made a mad dash and lost a slipper { which had been stuck in the tar like pitch }

Your second question - Cinderella was NOT allowed to see the prince prior to her " transformation " .. it was only after the prince demanded the stepsisters to step aside did he even recognize her { she had hid her dirty face out of shame }

Best Answer

Even pumps that fit can come off if one is attempting to run in them, as I can attest. And if I remember the story, the prince had only seen her that once, in a very crowded ballroom. ;)

Ever try running in a glass slipper? They do not bend with your arch!
