Evolution has proven no other animal is capable of filling a dog's roll in society. Even cats take a back seat to our canine companions. What the dog has given us is unparalleled; unconditional acceptance and loyalty in exchange for the scraps off our tables and the occasional pat on the back. In the history of deals, mankind can never top the one he established with the dog.

If dogs never existed, how could anything take their place, since they would never have existed in the first place?

Anything but a duck. You can't trust those feathered fluffs any further than you can throw the Empire State Building. Nasty buggers.

    No more man's best friend?

After dogs, every other animal is just an acquaintance.

if dogs never existed, you would have not asked this question because people would still think no animal could ever be a Man,s best friend

Species are the same with a 0.02 change in the DNA. Their instincts and behavior are very different.

I have to say Horse,To be able to experience the connection and bond that you can have with a horse is something amazing that most people dont get it and never will. It makes all the other stuff in your life, all your past baggage, seem so trivial and unimportant. To gain a frightened horses trust, you have to earn in. They keep you honest and humble. You cant lie to a horse, you cant brag to a horse. They dont care where you live, what you drive, or what your past was. They're a reflection of the energy you put out and if you want their respect, you have to have good energy and earn their respect. They force you to let go of the negative.

Cats I imagine or humanity may be inspired to actually make peace with animal kingdom instead of aspiring to kill them all the time.
