Read How To Win Friends And Influence People by Dale Carnegie. If you practice the skils he talks about in this book, you will find it easier to make friends.
Consider volunteering for something that requires people to work together. In the US, we are coming up on a presidential election year so if you pick a party, you can volunteer to campaign for a candidate. When people work together, they become friendly most of the time.
You could also consider talking to a close friend or relative, someone who knows you well, and ask that person why you are having so much trouble connecting with the opposite gender.

i would not compare the two,.although the net may assist you with ideas and examples etc..
Girls i think like easy-going confidence...If you feel they do not take to you,.then you have nothing to lose,.which might be liberating in a way...Lotta people go thru phases and you will probly suddenly emerge from shyness or ineptitude,.and find yourself miss right or thereabouts.
So yair,.forget about if they like you or not and just be yourself..That always works,.even if it takes time..

You have better chances because they can see you and get to know you in real life.Join some clubs get out and meet people.You will meet girls and there will be some that like you.
