Resolved Question

If God is love?

Then why do millions of people starve to death each year? What about them?

I find that a lot of the people who claim "God is love, God is good, God loves his children" have things like a roof over their heads and food on the table, not to mention a computer and many other luxuries.... What about those who live their lives in a third world country, praying to a God that never answers those prayers for food? for the simplest, most necessary of things?

What about the starving people of the world, why hasn't God granted them any miracles?

This isn't a question to start an argument, this is just a question I would like to see different answers to. Thankyou.

The only answer I have is this:
Life stinks sometimes. Believing in God or not believing him has nothing to do with your circumstances. I have seen the faithful loose it all, and athiest prosper...and visa versa.

It's my understanding that God wants to work through humans. SO it's up to us help.

The doctrine of "felix culpa" is what you are taught as the answer to your question in advanced Roman Catholic catechism. It basically means what Thomas Aquinas wrote: "God allows evils to happen in order to bring a greater good therefrom." God allowed His own son to die for the greater good under the same doctrine.

He is leaving it up to the people to see if everybody will work together instead of blaming one another or fighting and killing each other. Unfortunately, it is going to take alot more than just people. There is probably alot of money somewhere no one knows about that can help. Some people are too greedy and selfish and don't care about others.

When I play a sim game. I don't like to meddle to much with it. I like to watch it evolve. I believe God wants it to be our choice to believe in him, if it isn't a choice by reason of direct proof, then it has no meaning. A gift demanded is no gift at all. We become a tool if he meddles too much just an extension of him rather than an independent being with free will. The choice to believe in him has to mean something.

Why doesn't god heal amputees? If he gives cancer patients miraculous strength, why can't he help me regrow my arm?

Answer: There is no god.

god is mans creation... not the other way around... so anything they say about him... is really just a statement from man... and considering how screwed people are... they say **** like god is love.

I've often wondered that myself. I mean, He started from scratch and created EVERYTHING, so why did he create evil in the first place?

karmic debt. we all do many less than honorable things in a single life. over the course of many lives these things multiply. everyone of us must spend one lifetime suffering to pay our debt. this is why i believe in reincarnation. it's the only way i can make sense of it.

I wonder about the same things and I have come to the conclusion that there is no "Heavenly Father" as they want us to believe in religious organizations.

So many people blame God for the situations we set up. There is more than enough food and medicine in our world to feed and make healthy everyone in it, yet we do not do this. Example all these great musicians and movie stars do these great befiet fund raisers and yet several months of their exohbarunt salaries could feed many countries for a whole year of more. God gave us the tools we need to care for one another and yet we are greedy and uncaring to those around us. We do just enough to say we have done something.
The other side of this, is the rejection of God by so many in our world. I am sorry if you reject God and do not want Him in your life why is he just going to come down and do things just so you can go on belittling and defying who He is.
You also have many third world nations who have relief efforts coming in but evil men take it away and use it for their own gain and we just say "Ok that is just how it works."
God does love us, we have seperated from Him and His will and in doing so have lost the blessing He tries to give us. Even when we are not worthy he still reaches out as we mock him and turn away from him. God did his part and gave us more than enough, so what are you doing with your share?

God is love. Calamities are blessings in disguise. Who on earth have suffered more than Christ, the Only Son of God?
If comforts are happiness, why the Lord Buddha refused to sit on the throne of His father?
God loves, and because of this love He answers all our questions about His creation and our relation to Him, through His divine Messengers. Study them to get the light of guidance for your own knowledge and happiness.

I find there are already some quite good answers, so I won't repeat what is already said. Instead I would like to tell you that there are more believers in the poor countries. Acctually people who have computers, all their physical needs met etc. are more likely to reject God than them.
And how do you know He doesn't answer their prayers? God normally works through the hands of people. But it is us who throw away tons of bread and so on.

We all have free will....God does not force Himself on anyone....We have to seek God....and unfortunately, not everyone does.....There is a story, that explains it really well....in a way that all of us can relate to.....Here goes...

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed.

As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.

They talked about so many things and various subjects.

When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: 'I don't believe that God exists.'

'Why do you say that?' asked the customer. 'Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist.

Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children?

If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain!

I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things.'

The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument.

The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.

Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard.

He looked dirty and unkempt. The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber:

'You know what? Barbers do not exist.'

'How can you say that?' asked the surprised barber..

'I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!'

'No!' the customer exclaimed. 'Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.'

'Ah, but barbers DO exist! That's what happens when people do not come to me.'

'Exactly!' affirmed the customer. 'That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! That's what happens when people do not go to Him and don't look to Him for help.

That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world.'

God is love. The world we live in ( unfortunately ) is a material world where we need to feed our bodies and fight for survival. During all this process people get greedy and selfish. Thats why wealth is concentrated in hands of 3 %. There should be enough for everyone if people would use their contienciousnes and actually care for the rest of the people and think: How i can help or How I can serve...

There is no god in my opinion, the sufferings of Man are down to people, human beings, human error.

Just as a child is (supposedly) an expression of it's parents' love, we are here to be an expression of God's love. This beautiful earth has abundant resources for all; if some are without it is because others have way too much. Most pain and suffering is our own fault, because instead of loving and helping each other, countries are constantly at war, and individuals are too busy hating and focusing on differences to realize we are all God's children. And just like the parent of a grown child who makes horrible choices you can't change, but you love them anyway, God is waiting patiently for people to wake up and stop hating.

It's not God's fault that there are problems in the world today. He loves everyone and watches over everyone but, we are not His puppets. What happens to us as humans here on earth is our own problem. What we need to do is have faith in God and know that He will provide.

Suffering in the world is supposedly caused by evil, not God. However, *why* God cannot or will not rid the world of evil is a lively debate. I don't know what most people think, but here are two theories I've found that seem interesting:

Theory #1: The world, universe, and everything is actually a cosmic drama, in which Good and Evil made an agreement to be at odds with each other in order to liven things up. Why this cosmic drama came about, I don't recall, but I do recall this idea being drawn from Hinduism.
So, in this case, evil is God's doing in order put on a show, and actually life isn't meant to be taken seriously. Why do people take it seriously anyway? Because we are like actors on a stage, but we have forgotten that and have become obsessed with our roles.

Theory #2: This one is harder to explain. Here is an excerpt from a favorite book of mine, Behold the Spirit by Alan Watts:
"From the standpoint of non-duality, evil is not and cannot be the opposite of God. Yet this is just what evil wishes to be, opposing God in the entirely futile hope that it can exclude him, stand over against him, and limit him as an equal; this is its tremendous conceit. Therefore the supremacy of God over evil requires that it should never be allowed to achieve this aim. Evil *tries* to oppose God, but if God were to oppose evil, he would not only be acknowledging it as an equal and opposite, but allowing it to fulfill its purpose. Hence it is not by opposing evil that God renders it futile; he overcomes it through his non-duality, his all-inclusiveness, his love, which is unconquerable and supreme because it does not oppose and cannot effectively be opposed."

Those are the two best answers I've found and that I have to offer you. Personally, I'm a fan of #1, but I like #2 as well.
