I say, feel good about yourself. If you feel unattractive, it doesn't make it a fact. Work on switching up your appearance if it will help you feel better about yourself, but I would not act insecure in a relationship, as that can very well put a damper on the relationship and even end it. Most guys like women who are secure and happy with themselves and not afraid to be who they are. If you come across as insecure and always needing affirmations and reassurance that you are 'worthy', any attractiveness that a man sees in you, will slowly start to diminish. You need to work on your attitude toward yourself, for you cannot have a successful relationship unless you embrace and see the worth in yourself.

it depends on how unattractive you feel.
Here's my take on it... I've always thought I'm goofy looking, but it doesn't matter what I think, because I don't look at myself. I can look into my partners eyes and see that she doesn't think I look the way I think I look, so who really cares what I think I look like cause it doesn't matter. As long as she's attracted to me, I'll just play along and not worry about my own insecurities.
