get her one of those cards that's blank inside that says something like" I know we cant be lovers, but I still consider you a great friend and I will love the person you are forever" or something along those lines

I know I am a bit late with a response- but in my opinion it is always better to take the initiative and be honest with your feelings. Hiding your feelings or not communicating causes more issues. Hope all works out ok for you.
