Contrary to what most of us think, our memory does not work like a recorded video that one can retrieve any past experience accurately. We tend to either integrate several fragments of other things associated with the event or recreate a memory based on our understanding of the information and not exactly the information itself. This is not human error, this is just how memory works.
The danger comes when we are faced into situations, such as when we witness a crime and courts await for us to testify about what we " really saw" - the power to either make or break other people is within our hands.
How can testimonies of eye witnesses be reliable and be improved? Thanks!
