Why in the world would you feel sad at Valentine's Day just because you are not in a couple? Better to be alone than in bad company.

Being in a relationship is nice, but I don't NEED to be in one. Therefore, I don't feel depressed when Valentine's day rolls around and there is no "special" someone.

You're comparing your insides with others outsides. How do you know those in relationships will be having a great time on Valentine's Day? That's quite an assumption. You're perhaps also taking what is more a commercial day way too seriously. If you can enjoy your own company or link up with other friends there's no need to feel unhappy on these commercial, conformist and conventional holidays. I like Valentine's day as a day of friendship. Send your friends Valentine messages!

I make the effort to better myself every day that I am alive. I am traveling on the path I chose and I know it is the right path for me. It is the path I chose because I knew it would bring me more happiness than any other path. It is the path from which I will gain the most insight and wisdom. I believe that a significant other will join me on my path when the time is right. That is why I do not feel sad around the holidays or Valentine's Day.

I'm married now, but when I was single there usually were a at least one or two friends who were also single. We would go to dinner then hit clubs are bars...always had a great time.
