If someone is only 17 years old,can she have breast cancer?

Unfortunately, yes she can - although it's supposedly quite rare in woman as young as 17.

It's more likely to occur if close relatives in her family have suffered from breast cancer - ie mother, grandmother, aunts etc.

The important thing to remember is that, even though breast cancer can happen in a 17-year-old, it would be extremely rare. If you feel something in your breast, you should not be afraid to get it checked out, hon, because the odds are in your favor that it is probably something totally harmless like a cyst. Get it checked out ASAP and then you can put your mind to rest.

Even men can get breast cancer in the right bizarre circumstances.

A person, male or female, can get breast cancer even if they are not old enough to have breasts. If you found something, get it checked out NOW. The upside is that it's probably something benign - A VERY GOOD CHANCE - so get it checked out and then you can stop worrying about it. Worrying is very bad for you, too.

from what i've read, it's rare but possible for young women. talk to your female felatives and see if there's any history of it in your family and talk to your doctor about your concerns.

I agree with all the other answers. Best to see your doctor and have it checked out. I am not as young as you, but I thought I had breast cancer. I went to the doctor and found out it was a cyst. Please see a doctor.

You need to see a doctor right away, to put your mind at rest. Yes breast cancer is possible but you would have to be incredibly unluck to have it at such a young age.

Sadly, yes. I don't personally know anyone who has, but have read true life articles in magazines about this very subject. As anyone would tell you, if you think you have, get yourself to a doctor immediately, demand a mammogram. I've had one, it wasnt that painful (for me) but regardless of that, it's important to find out - early treatment can mean a life saved.

YES!!! Cancer effects millions of people yearly and can occurr in any age group from 1 to ?. Saint Judes Hospital is full of children who have been diagnosed with cancer. This is not only an adult disease. A person age 17 can have breast cancer . It is very important for women to have regular mammograms yearly. If you have a doubt as to wether you are a person who may have a problem or fear you may already have breast cancer consult your doctor immediatley. Time is a factor. Take it from a SURVIVOR. ME.
