Well in the old days they would kill the entire family, his/her entire bloodline as a means of vengeance. Also if they killed their parent they would take the child and raise it as their own. But I would be likely to kill them judging from my gut reaction to the question.

I wouldn't kill their child, but I would torture the person. I would slowly and painfully use my own bare hand to open a wound over their heart, and scratch at it a little everyday, so that I will eventuallty tear through their ribs, rip out their heart, eat it, and drink their blood. And as thay lay dying slowly, I will whisper to them "Do unto thou what thine does unto my own", stomp on their face, snap their neck, and rip out their throat, and keep the spine as a trophy

I once wrote a story about a man whose only child was killed by a drunk driver, who himself was the father of three kids.
The man killed the drunk driver's three kids and when he was convicted, as he was being led away to spend the remainder of his life in prison, he told the drunk driver, "You killed ALL of my kids, so I killed ALL of yours. drunk driving is a completely different crime, it's more accidental, from the hate racism thing here, which was planned and on purpose, aimed at little kids. I would probably understand if those were adults that had faught over something and then one pulled out a knife...but otherwise, it's unforgiveable

Hate crime? Aren't all physical crimes hate crimes? I would not hurt someone else's kid at all for any reason. I withold judgment on whether I would go after someone who would hurt mine.

in one country...predominantly white...a white adult man...stabbed two biracial little boys while they were playing in a sand box in their house...One died and the other one left in a wheel chair wondering for what he was stabbed. I would chop up that mofo, I swear, and feed him to some dogs...

I would not retaliate ,sure at the moment i be boiling mad but i wouldn't kill his child after all the child is innocent, if the courts could not convict him ,i'd have no other choice but to let go and move on, yes it's horrible that "my" child is dead but killing his won't make it right, i'll just have to make another be more careful next time
