Call the police, but put a claim on it in case no trace of shenanigans led to it being put there.

No, I'd give it to the Police because it might be drugs money, stolen or counterfeit money and if the bank sees I suddenly have £10,000 in my account and the Police are aware that that amount of money is missing and has gone into my account (if the Police have alerted the bank to be vigilant about this) or if counterfeit money goes into my account I might get in trouble.
But maybe no-one would claim it and they'd still give it back to me (if it wasn't counterfeit).Like (1)

No. They put it in there for a reason, probably not a good one...as pretty much no one gives away that kind of money just out of the kindness of their hearts.
