If the bond of a mothers love is broken can it ever be regained?

A mother's love can never be broken. It is an unconditional, undying love that just can not be broken. Therefore it isn't love that needs to be regained, but it maybe something else like trust or pride or approval... who knows... but a mom just can't stop loving her child.

My step-kids mum walked out on them when they were tiny - I don't think she'll ever get that broken bond back in this particular case - she crossed a line and changed forever how they'd love her, she'll never get that back.
