scribes on drugs ... circa 425ad
Whether or not the bible is the "word of god" or not, it was still written by men with an agenda.
hehe, typos, mistranslations....maybe it's just allegorical
The Bible wasn't written in a day... it was written over numerous years, and EVERYTHING changes with time. Just as some things in life aren't relevant or meaningful to us today, they may have been in our past, and may be in our future. The Bible may be full of contradictions, but it parallels our human lives, which are all contradictory by nature.
First the stories were told word-of-mouth for many centuries. Then, they were hand written by scribes for the first time about 600 years after Christ's death. They continued to be hand-written for nearly a millenia... each scribe interpreting stories and passages his own way (why there are so many different versions around). Finally, in the mid 1400's, the Bible was printed for the first time. It continues to be reinterpreted to this day.
Inspired and well-meaning as it may be, it sounds like the work of man to me.
The OT was written before Jesus' time, and the first books of the NT were written in the first century after Jesus death.
As we learn more about the original texts and understanding the context it was written in, the clearer the message is.
The message never changes, no matter how many time the bible is re-printed.
When you go back to the original text there are no contradictions.
There are plenty of contradictions, just do a google search. Explain to me then why there are two different accounts for the creation story, and why there are two different accounts of the david and goliath story, and why there are two totally different stories of the nativity of Our Lord.
OMFG .!
Thank you . No one ever says anything about these mind blowing contradictions and double standards, but we're all supposed to drop everything and praise the word..
We are contradiction.
