    The solctice is an earthly phenomenon - it is just a point in time when the sun crosses an imaginary line. Assuming the earth is actually destroyed and not just all the people the solstice would no longer exist. If the earth remains the solstice will still happen but there will be no one around to observe it

    If there's a solstice and there's nobody around to observe it, is there still a solstice?

    Of course. That's like saying if no one is in the state of Maine at 7AM does the dawn still happen in Bangor. It still happens whether we see it or not.
