If trust is the basis for a relatonship then why is this a new saying?

My grandma never said it. You just hear repeated over and over the last 10 years or so.. as divorce rates get higher and higher.

I also want to add to the existing comments that the whole notion of marrying for love is quite new. Only in the past century or so have we began seeking out love for marriage. Marriage was a business contract, an alliance, and had more to do with security and stability for the families involved than with anyone's feelings.

underconstruction	Posted Apr 30th, 2009 at 3:33AM Because modern society doesn´t like to think very much so they recycle old sayings, give them a modern twist and sell them as the new and improved life theory. Just like they did with "The Secret". The concept has been around for years, but now it´s being sold as the discovery of the century. But truth be told, trust is the basis of a relationship, so is loyalty. They are just underrated. Rated: +2Vote for this!
Moran1988	Posted Apr 30th, 2009 at 6:07AM I absolutely agree with underconstruction, and I want to add that also people have a lot of insecurities, and this is perfectly normal. One place where insecurities show themselves is in relationships. For instance, partners try to control each other instead of dealing with the true source of the problem... their own insecurity. silentvoices	Posted Apr 30th, 2009 at 8:29AM I think in relationship only trust is not enough , we need Love with understanding care with compromise and happiness with sacrifices .. in these days we all become so selfish we only think about ourselves we always think that what is advantage for me in this relation .. we did not understand or did not want to understand the value of relationships , we treat relationship some kind of selling product which you can buy from any where for some time use it and throw it and get a new one.. We live like animals most of the time, rutting around anything that will take us. Of course trust is the base, and yet we still need to be TOLD that. Really? People didn't know that? They needed to be told? What the hell is that about? "Holy crap I almost died!" "What happened?" "No one told me I needed to breathe!" People that need to be told that very simple truth need to put there head in the strike zone and take one for the team. Rated: +1Vote for this!
