With socal anxiety disorder, you will probably be more nervous with more face on contact with people than internet social sites such as EP.

No, because you're 'anonymous' and people aren't looking at you. I'm sitting here with no makeup on, haven't even brushed my teeth today! LOL I'm fine doing this but wouldn't go to the mall or even to work looking like this - or anywhere for that matter.

Cute pun. No, it doesn't mean one will stay away from social sites. In fact, one would probably do better interacting online than in person because there is less anxiety online.

I lived with a two guys with social anxiety for about 1.5 years. One guy was awful to be around so nobody wanted to spend time with him, he really didn't improve at all. The other one got out and about regularly, was constantly a stress pot each time, always doubting what the right thing to do or say was, but we all understood that was just a part of his personality. Can't say he ever did really stop stressing but he had better times too.
