Well when something bad happens, we always initially have the desire to go back in time and change the past. However, i've realized over time that there must be a reason why its not possible, at least not yet, and i don't mean that science hasn't discovered how to do so. It may be an overused saying but... Everything in life does happen for a reason. i mean we can't hope to live a life totally free of embarassment, disappoint and sadness, because then we would have learnt nothing and life in the end would be meaningless. So in short, i wouldn't change a thing because too i am afraid that it'll change all the good that has already happened to me and everything meaningful that will happen in the future. i am still saying this even though at present, i am in a terible dilemma and i see no good to come of it, yet i don't regret my past, because its the way it has to be.

I can honestly say there is no one event that I would change. Now as for several smaller actions at different points I would like to change some of those. Like I would have slept with him, had I known that would be my only chance. I would have done the whole line instead of half, and spent the night, New Year's night. I would asked him why he treated me that way my 1st semester as a GA. I would have kissed him in the drive thru of my 1st job. Please keep in mind that each sentence is a separate event . But you have to wonder what would have happened had you done those things differently. As it stands now, i am a single virgin, who is almost finished with a master's in clinical psychology. If I changed any of the above, I might have 2 or 3 kids, and on drugs and no chance of finishing school. take what you have and make the best out of it.

I would NEVER have married or even dated my recent ex-husband. He kept me a prisoner for 13 years. I was isolated and abused. I have escaped, but lost everything. I've lost myself, my dreams, my goals, my future...

I would have punched my former bully in the face instead of crying like a ******* ***** and letting him RUIN my life.

It's been 10 years, and I still haven't erased the damage to my reputation and my psyche.

I am with tearsofsilence & domain. Though only after 46 years did death finally release me from this prison. My only blessing in that time were my children, still are.

If I could somehow live a different life and come back to this moment and see which one I prefer, I would have made it so we never went on holiday when I was 2/3 years old. A big advertising firm randomly called and asked for me to be on one of their adverts with barney! For all I know, I could be a major movie-person or something by now! So, jah... n_n

I can truthfully say: nothing. Everything that's happened to me has made me who I am. For better or worse.

While I agree that what you go through in your past makes you who you are today, I would have to say that my one thing would be not to get married the second time. That was a huge mistake for me and I lost most of what I had plus a very dear friend that we can't ever go back to how we were before.

When I was born a wealthy family came to the hospital and asked my mother if they could adopt me since they knew she was in no condition to raise another child since she was on social assistance and also raising my 2 older brothers. She said no even though I would have been better off and only would have been a 3 minute drive away. She also got my brothers to prevent my own father from taking me to the states with him where his parents would have helped him raise me. Either choice would have been a good idea.

I could see the advantage of being able to change the day of my death. That would allow for more efficient planning.

No regrets...just lessons learned. Some harder than others. I'm who I am today, because of those choices. If I'd have changed one thing, like turning my buddy down on the trip to the bar that night...I may have never met my wife and the mother of my daugther.

How do we know we haven't already done so?

Assume we have the ability do change an event, therefore altering our life. We make the change, then "poof" our life is different, or perhaps we (or a loved one) are dead. Would we have the awareness that we even changed anything? It would be like everyone except Bill Murray in Groundhog Day.
