If you don't like any of the current political parties does it make sense not to vote?

I mean that way no one gets your vote and is ahead of another party.

You should vote either way since even though you don't believe your vote counts in the president choice it does count in the other races being run and the issues that are local to you. Write in a canidate if you don't like who is running( I do all the time)

Ideally I would agree that if you dont like any party then dont vote, but in reality there is a difference between the main parties so you should vote for the one that is slightly better for you. This will improve the party's chance of winning. I guess what I am saying is that you should vote to let the lesser of the 2 evils to win.

Not voting for any reason is like erasing yourself from the population...the election will take place, but you won't have any say about it...you will have to accept someone else's decision...

But how could my vote prevent any of the current parties from being elected?

It is not your vote alone that will do it, not the way the system is set up...the only way for your party to win is if the other party(s) lose...and if you split the votes between 3 parties, then no one will have a majority and the election will either be done over or the Electoral College will decide or the Supreme Court will decide...what you want can't be done, sorry...
