Short answer: I would date them anyway.
Long answer: The big question with schizophrenia is often: how is the person handling their illness? If they have it under control, then from what i understand it needn't have a big effect on your life. This probably means taking medication, but also having support from others, some stability in yr life.
But I would want to know how it effects them. If they were not dealing with it properly eg ignoring doctors, taking illegal drugs a lot - I would probably not date them.

FWIW, I think that GoldenArrow's "long" answer is spot-on. I would not date somebody with schizophrenia unless it were well-managed by this person. And I would go further: Unless you yourself are very stable and your emotional health is very good, don't even think about it. Good luck. HTH. Andrew

No, I had a loving, strong relationship for 3 years with a man with schizophrenia. In the end though, he felt like he was not good enough. You just have to reassure them that everything is Ok and you love them for who they are.
