If you had a chance to say something to your idol, what would you say?
Quite a few days I walk passed my idols in a Limo, the door was open and I could see their sillouette, it was hard to believe it was them, and part of would let myself belive it was, but I know it had to be. It was Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, 1996 after thier concert at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. I didn't know what to say. I still don't know what I would say without looking like a dribbling fool. I had a dream the other night about hanging out with them, so it got me thinking, what would I say?

I would ask Queen Elizabeth the first what guided her decision not to marry. I would ask Gandhi how his faith played a role in his staying strong while dealing with the government. I would ask Doctor King how he stayed strong through the beatings and prison sentences.

i'd tell him how much i miss his inspirations since the day he walked out.
in everything that surrounds me and all the new people i meet, i am still searching for someone like him.
there is no way anyone can replace him but surely i now know that no one is like him, not even close!

Alistair, I swear to God, I don't know how you do it. Novels, a memoir, those fabulous cartoons of yours, pithy reviews, brilliant poetry, and of course the volunteer work - simply amazing. p.s. You are so friggin' handsome! p.p.s. Have you lost weight? You look smashing!

I met my idol. After a concert he shook my hand, signed my ticket stub, and gave me his beautiful, warm, sincere smile as if he was waiting for me to say something. I clammed up, muttered, "thanks," and left. I suck!!

If I have another chance to meet doug martsch, I will say something like, "It's such a pleasure to meet you, Doug. I really can't express how your music has affected me. I have so much respect and admiration for you. You know, you inspired me to finally start playing guitar. Would you mind if my husband took a photo of you and me? Thanks! And could you write my favorite song lyric on this body part so I can go straight to the tattoo parlor and have it tattooed on me? Thanks."

That would be Jonathan Davis (the lead singer of Korn) and I would first and foremost tell him "thank you". Because, if it wasn't for his music when I was growing up, I would have had an even worse time of it. His music gave me an outlet for my pain. His music gave me understanding, and courage, and hope.
