I would love to be able to do that but you would have to be prepared to get your feelings hurt. At least you would know where you really stand with people.

You probably wouldn't enjoy most of what you heard.....so you probably would stay away from people.

Yes. I'd use it if bored at work. Just scan what people are thinking. Or if guys are hitting on me to identify scumbags. Not on friends or family.

Sure I'd use it temporarily, but then I'd drive myself insane.

Noooooo - ages ago, I used to use a sort of empathic exercise to really understand people I was interacting with, try to sense the motivations and concerns of the person behind the face. Worked fine for a while until one day I was waiting to talk to a co-worker. She was on the phone, so while I waited, I tried my exercise. It was like a grenade had gone off - I wasn't at all prepared for the waves and waves of fear and insecurity that came flooding out. She was having a perfectly pleasant conversation - it wasn't the context, just who she was as a person. I actually had to step away for a while, and I've never done it again. Too private and personal. I can't imagine actually knowing the details behind the emotions and mannerisms.

i've thought about that but people lie like its second nature and their thoughts i'm afraid would be even more damaging to know so i would rather not do that

No, I don't and I wouldn't; I have too much to sort through in my own head already.

Yeah but I wouldnt respond to what they thought, as eventually someone would really know I could read minds and stalk me and find out and let the Government know and I dont want to be an experiment for the Govt.! =)

No. I have enough to do just listening to my own thoughts.

I read their face and listen to their voice, it is generally enough to know.
