If you only had 5$ to your name and had no groceries what would you invest in?

Spaghetti. It's cheap and can last a while.

First, I'd try to get a FREE ride from a friend to a food bank. They have food boxes you can pick up every so often. Call ahead...see which day they do it. That'll last you a week, I think. Then invest in either rice or pasta, not ramen noodles. Go to the dollar store...cheapest there for pasta.

A pack of smokes then I would sit down and get to planning out my next move.

A bus ticket to the dole office?

Well, that is a good question. I would start looking for freebies online and see what companies were offering freebies. Then I would go to a food pantry where the prices are based on income and I would purchase rice, beans, and other staple foods. Then I would let my friends know that i Right now a lot of us are unemployed so your scenario is not far out there. I shop a lot at warehouses and food co ops. I also go to the Farmer's Market when I can to get fresh veggies and fruits less expensive. There is a site that i go to in order to get ideas. PM me if you want to know more.

Ramen soup AND a job.

I would multiply that by 10 in less than an hour. Go to a rummage sale in your area, bargin the price on something that you know you can sell and list it on craigslist. I'm not affilated with CL in any way shape or form but ya can make a living on it with no, I repeat NO investment!
Look around your house, see what ya haven't used in a while and post it online as for sale!

Peanut butter and bread....It will stretch longer....and all you need is a knife, spoon, or fork....(and if you didn't have those, your finger)

I'd head to the 99cents store and buy bread, eggs, juice, cheese and fruit

A $5 dollar scratch-off ticket, and cross my fingers that it was a winner. If not I would go to a friends house, raid their fridge, and take over their couch.

Given the exchange rate, with $5 I could host a five course dinner party for six ;-)

I'd give it away...

jacket potatoes, baked beans, loaf of bread and margarine.

Ramen, kool-aid, and milk

A coke flavored slurpee. I'm addicted to them.

Eggs they do everything that meat does and you could get two or maybe even three cartons for five dollars.
