If I know that my life is not safe with my friend/companion whether the cause is (physical, emotional, or sexual), or that in the moment that I needed my friend/companion the most and he wasn't there for me, then that is grounds for walking away. My heart will ache deeply but that loss is minimum to a prolonged measure of unecessary cruelty. Rated: +1Vote for this!
