If you were homeless and finally got a decent job, would you rather rent an apartment or buy a car to live in?
I know it may sound odd but here are the problems
Apartment- everything except places that are far away from where you work and really shady requires rental history which you have none of. You're thinking about getting a friend to sign a notary saying you've lived with them and paid rent but you really can barely make the monthly payments anyways. You live in the city work downtown and everything is expensive. Taking the bus will require an extra 100/ month so it doesn't matter if you find something even 100 cheaper .. All the rooms for rent you k ow of are full..
Car- paying cash for a car for now when you save up money. It's a one time payment so you won't have to worry about it. However living in a car is dangerous, the cops can give you trouble is you're found out. But you can drive to work for a change... That is assuming the cheap car doesn't break down.. Which would mean you'd lose the car..

Apartment. Many communities law enforcement agencies check vehicles that are occupied to discourage criminal activities relating to vices...e.g.: prostitution, drug dealing, public drunkenness.

I've used public transit a million times in my life. I would rather do that and have a roof over my head.

I knew a person who did that. I knew him for many years and I bet he is still doing it.

I would definitely want an apartment instead of a car.I could wash whenever I wanted to.Keep warm, cook what I wanted. As for transportation I would invest on a bicycle if I had to.Peddle my way to and from work to save money rather than pay for a bus or taxi.
