The federal government has a number of programs going on in the US right now (and pretty much every other country too), monitoring absolutely all Internet traffic - in real time. In reality, your petty stupidity isn't worth their time looking further at you, or tipping their hand to show what they know about you.
Once they decide that /you/ are a priority, they have all of the records they need to uniquely identify you, and take it to prosecution - again, if you are high profile enough to tip their hand.
if you remain low enough of a priority, it will fall back onto local LEOs to investigate, but you leave enough of a trail online that once they start watching you, you WILL be caught - if you're worth even their time.Like (1)
